Joyful Obedience – October 15, 2017

(Philippians 2:12-18) Because of who Jesus is and all He has done for us, we should faithfully and joyfully obey Him!

Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.” Philippians 2:12-13

Joyful Ministry – October 22, 2017

(Philippians 2:19-30) Godly gospel workers demonstrate genuine concern and faithful service: the examples of Timothy and Epaphroditus, illustrated by the story of Martin Luther.

For I have no one like him, who will be genuinely concerned for your welfare. For they all seek their own interests, not those of Jesus Christ. But you know Timothy’s proven worth, how as a son with a father he has served with me in the gospel.” Philippians 2:20-22

Follow the signposts of dependence, discipline, humility and focus. Fix your eyes on the finish line when we will be finally home, perfectly holy and completely whole!

“But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:13-14
