38. Keep Watch

Paul’s farewell to the elders from Ephesus serves as his last words to dear friends and successors in ministry. As such, it summarizes his primary exhortations to all Christian leaders, structured under two commands – to protect yourself and protect one another. To guard our own hearts and lives we must 1) fight our sin and 2) follow the Spirit into the work to which He is calling us. To protect one another we must 1) focus on the truth and glory of the gospel and 2) guard against deceptions and distortions. Truly the days are evil and more than ever we must “keep watch!”
