“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2:10

Every follower of Jesus has a unique assignment from God – a calling. There are specific good works God prepared before you were born for you to accomplish. From Sept. 11 through Thanksgiving of 2022 we will be seeking direction from God and each other to become more focused, fruitful and fulfilled in our kingdom service.

Step one is knowing that yes, YOU are called. Calling is not just for pastors and missionaries. It is for all believers! God has work that He custom designed you to do for Him and for the people around you.

Step two is finding what that calling is. And step three is beginning to work at it. This whole series boils down to these simple steps: hearing God’s voice and obeying. To hear God’s voice be sure to spend time in God’s Word and as you pray for clear direction keep a notebook and pen handy so you can jot down your thoughts and ideas. Process the direction you receive from the Lord with your spouse, a close friend, your Community Group or D-Group. Invite people to confirm the gifting they see in you and some may feel called to join in the work you are doing!

A helpful tool to discern your calling is a new book called Find your Place. Rob Wegner and Brian Phipps are two of the founders of the Kansas City Underground (a network of microchurches patterned after our own Tampa Underground). They developed this tool to help mobilize believers in KC into their kingdom mission. The book presents three signals we need to triangulate to find our calling:

Your GIFTS include your natural abilities (like King David’s sling) and your spiritual gifts (like King David’s harp).

Your PASSION is about the issues, people or places that are always on your mind.

Your STORY includes both the highs and lows, the blessings and brokenness.

Where your G.P.S. signals converge is where you will find your unique assignment from the Lord.

Come with us on a journey this fall as we skim over the life of David and then take a deeper dive into the story of Jonah.

This Sunday (9/11/22) we will Begin with the End in Mind by reflecting on the end of our lives and the moment we will stand before the Lord Jesus and give an account for the time, talent and treasure He entrusted to us.

“For no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if anyone builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw— each one’s work will become manifest, for the Day will disclose it, because it will be revealed by fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each one has done. If the work that anyone has built on the foundation survives, he will receive a reward. If anyone’s work is burned up, he will suffer loss, though he himself will be saved, but only as through fire.” 1 Corinthians 3:11-15

How are you building your life? How could you use more gold, silver and costly stones as the Lord leads you into your unique kingdom purpose?
