Reach The World

1. We are Ambassadors – 2 Corinthians 5:14-21 – August 5, 2018

Our activity as followers of Christ always flows from our identity in Christ. We share the Gospel because we are ambassadors for Jesus. 2 Corinthians 5:14-21 shows us our mission, our ministry and our message – but all of these flow from our identity as messengers from God.

2. On a Mission – Matthew 28:16-20

The closing verses of Matthew’s Gospel are called The Great Commission. In this passage Jesus gives his followers clear principles and priorities for our mission to make disciples of all nations.

3. Empowered by the Promise – Luke 24:44-52

As we seek to make disciples of all nations, God’s promises give us confidence and God’s Spirit gives us boldness. Today in the closing section of Luke’s Gospel we study God’s past, present and future promises for us and learn four facts about the Holy Spirit

4. Thy Kingdom Come… – Isaiah 61:1-11

God is both infinitely loving and perfectly just. While the church’s mission focuses on spiritual transformation (making disciples), believers are called to demonstrate God’s love and work toward His justice in a broken world. Isaiah 61 shows us how to pray and pursue “your kingdom come.”

5. Every Color For God’s Glory – Revelation 5:9-10

One of our elders, Rob Weyand, shares a vision for the unity of the church in the midst of our racial and cultural diversity. Though all people were created in God’s image, we have been divided by the fall. This is why Jesus came – not only to reconcile us to God but also to one another (Eph. 2:11-21). So we must fight our tendency to retreat from diversity into familiarity and work to increasingly reflect God’s desire for one unified church until Jesus comes back and restores God’s design.
