The Gospel

Starting in the Gospel of Mark,  we walk through the good news of the 10 saving acts of Jesus Christ from the wonder of his coming to the centrality of his death and resurrection to the blessed hope of his imminent return, all based on the foundational truth that Jesus is Lord. Check out this three minute introduction!

  1. Jesus is Lord – Mark 1:1-15 – April 8, 2018

The gospel is the good news of the 10 saving acts of Jesus. This whole message stands or falls on the first one – that Jesus is Lord. Today we see the three dimensions of Jesus’ Lordship – inviting us to look back, look up and look forward with our faith to Jesus who is Lord in perfect humanity, perfect authority and perfect divinity.

2. Jesus Came – Mark 1:32-45 – April 15, 2018

The fact that the eternally divine Son of God became fully human and offered Himself as the sacrifice for our sins proves once and for all that God is love. Today we see four expressions of God’s perfect love in the ministry of Jesus: 1) love shows up; 2) love speaks truth; 3) love reaches out and 4) love restores fellowship.

3. Jesus Calls – Mark 1-2 – April 22, 2018

If you hear Jesus call you, come to Him! Here are three descriptions of the people Jesus calls and three ways we should respond to Him. Jesus calls ordinary people, he calls his own sheep (who know his voice) and he calls sinners to repent.

4. Jesus Died  Mark 15:15-47 – April 29, 2018

The central truth of the gospel is that Jesus died for us – he died in our place; he died for our sins. As we walk through Mark 15 we will see what happened to Jesus, what he did and what happened around him as he suffered for us. Then we will draw two important and tremendously encouraging conclusions.

5. Jesus Rose – Mark 16:1-8 – May 6, 2018

The central claim of the gospel is that Jesus died and rose again. Today we study several passages that show what the resurrection proves. This is the cornerstone of Christianity – everything we believe stands or falls with the resurrection. Be encouraged, believers, this is an unshakable foundation – we are secure in Christ because He lives!

6. Jesus Forgives – Romans 3:19-28 – May 13, 2018

The gospel reveals three aspects of God’s character under the heading of His righteousness. We see His justice, mercy and grace, perfectly woven together on the cross. This study of Romans 3 highlights the incredible good news that God not only offers to forgive sinners who repent but to declare them perfectly righteous in Christ!

7. Jesus Gives – Ezekiel 36:22-38 – May 20, 2018

600 years before Jesus was born Ezekiel foretold how God’s people would be transformed from the inside out – how God would give them a new heart so they could be filled with His Spirit and obey His Law joyfully. In Ezekiel 36 we see God’s one purpose – to magnify His own glory – and five promises to accomplish it.

Following Jesus is a two step process: believe the gospel and live worthy of it. Fueled by gratitude for all God has done for us and filled with His Spirit, we focus on God, fight against sin and follow our Lord with all we are.

10. Jesus Restores – Revelation 21:1-11,21-27 – June 10, 2018

The Gospel invites us to look back on the finished work of Christ, to look up in dependence on the power of Christ and to look forward to the return of Christ. In this message we look ahead to the return of Christ when He will restore all things. Be encouraged by the promises, be sobered by the warnings and above all, respond to the Lord’s invitation!
