7. Biblical Lament: Dare to Hope in God

We all have seasons in which life lets us down and sorrows suddenly crash over our heads like beating waves. Even for mature believers, there can be a frustration or confusion as to how and why God would allow such tragedy to happen. This Sunday, we will look at the Psalms of Lament, especially Psalm 13, to find a solace in our pain, a promise to claim, and a pathway to praise. We will see that biblical lament is a prayer in pain that leads to trust. By looking at four key steps in the process of lament, our desire is to walk away better equipped to face our disappointments while deepening our faith in God’s goodness.
