7. You are Established

Matthew was a tax collector – and probably one of the least likely candidates for Jesus to call as a disciple. Matthew represents the nation of Israel as one who had strayed from his childhood beliefs and values and become corrupted by the world he lived in. To confront the religious leaders who were judging Matthew and his “sinful” friends, Jesus pointed them all to Hosea 6 – a prophetic confrontation of Israel’s sin and a call to repentance. Come this Sunday to hear God’s voice calling to you to know Him, love Him, obey Him and – as a result – to love others. Jesus calling Matthew means there is hope for all of us – no matter how far we have strayed!
