11. Kindness

Matthew 9 documents nine people or groups having an encounter with Jesus and illustrates the depth and breadth of the kindness of our Lord. For sinful people, Jesus’ compassion for their eternal peril moves Him to be generous with grace. For religious people, Jesus’ compassion for their spiritual blindness moves Him to be generous with truth. For hurting people, Jesus’ compassion for their holistic suffering moves Him to be generous with love. Jesus restores every part of our lives we surrender to Him, to prepare us to bring that kind of generous kindness to the people around us!
