19. When You Pray
April 12, 2026 - Matthew 6:5-8When You Pray
As Jesus begins to teach His disciples about prayer He first corrects some common misunderstandings about prayer and then directs us to the right way to think about prayer and to grow in the practice of it. Prayer is not a show for people, a religion to score points or a magic formula to get things from God. Rather, prayer is a gift of devotion to the Lord, a relationship with our heavenly Father and a discipline of personal faith. Therefore we should pray regularly in devotion to the Lord; we should pray joyfully as we are blessed to spend time with our Father in heaven; and we should pray confidently as we ask in the Name of Jesus, for His glory and in service to His kingdom. To prepare for worship this week be sure to pray slowly through the Lord’s prayer a couple of times and experience the joy of your personal relationship with God the Father, through the Son.
