  1. The One True King – Psalm 2 – December 2, 2018

The One True King – Psalm 2 is a coronation hymn, written by King David (Acts 4:25) but pointing ahead to Jesus, the ultimate king who will reign on David’s throne forever. This Psalm gives us two urgent exhortations – 1) Stop rebelling against God and 2) Surrender completely to Jesus, the Anointed King – for true happiness can only be found in Him!

2. The Love of the King – Psalm 23 – December 9, 2018

God is both transcendent and immanent – both infinitely glorious (Psalm 2) and personally present (Psalm 23). Today we see the shepherding love of our God who came near not only to be the good shepherd but to lay down his life as the perfect lamb of God (John 10:11).

3. Our Joy in the King – Psalm 95 & 96 – December 16, 2018

Psalm 95 & 96 call us to worship the Lord with three exhortations: 1) find your joy in the king; 2) fight for faith in the king and; 3) fill the world with news of the king. Jesus is the all-glorious king, anything else we love, trust or serve above Him is “an empty box,” a “worthless idol” that cannot give us the joy our souls long for.

4. Seeking the King – Matthew 2:1-11 – December 23, 2016

Matthew 2 presents wise men from the east who follow a star to a newborn king. They show us what leads us to worship (stars and Scripture) and what worship looks like (seek the truth; bow to the king and; give Jesus everything).
