Evangelical & Free

October 14 – November 11, 2018

Five EFCA Pastors preach on five core convictions of our movement:

  1. Our Purpose – the glory of God
  2. Our Authority – the Bible
  3. Our Theology – unity in the essentials
  4. Our Focus – making disciples
  5. Our Message – the Gospel of Jesus Christ

1. All for the Glory of God – October 14, 2018

Every person and every church exists to glorify God. What does it mean to glorify God and what does it look like? John 17 shows us three gifts God has given us that should move us to lift up Jesus in our hearts, lives and with our voices: the gift of revelation, of redemption and of relationship.

2. The Priority of Scripture – October 21, 2018 – Pastor Mike Gibbons of Candlewood Church (Land o’ Lakes)

2 Timothy 3:14-17 clearly teaches that all Scripture is God’s Word and therefore is the instrument God uses to make Himself known to us for our salvation and the tool He uses to help us grow to maturity in Christ. May we continue in Scripture, trusting in the better promises of God’s Word and walking in faithful obedience to our Lord.

3. Unity in the Essentials – October 28, 2018 – Pastor Brian Walker of Lake Morton Community Church (Lakeland)

Pastor Brian shares the central ethos of the EFCA – that we are committed to unity in the essentials and dialogue in our differences. We are a movement that majors on the majors and allows freedom in secondary matters. Ephesians 4:1-16 teaches the importance of unity in the church – first that we are one in Christ and therefore how we should protect that unity and grow together in love.

4. Making and Multiplying Disciples November 4, 2018 – Pastor Steven Barr of Cast Member Church (Orlando)

Starting in Genesis 1, Pastor Steven teaches how we were created to multiply God’s glory; then moving to Matthew 28 he shows how we are called to multiply disciples; finally, he shares how we are uniquely cast to multiply the church.

5. Proclaiming the Gospel – November 11, 2018 – Pastor Ryan Schmitz of Trinity Free Church (Eustis)

Read the message here: Evangelical and Free – Proclaim the Gospel

As evangelicals we believe and proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ. What is the Gospel? First, Scripture reminds us that it is God’s message of salvation, not something people made up (1 Tim. 1:11-17). Second, we find the Gospel in Scripture alone (1 Cor. 15:1-4). Third, this message alone addresses our deepest needs. And fourth, the Gospel requires a response.
